Aldo Ferretto.
Creative Director.
Sydney, Australia.

Hola!

These days, you can find me living in beautiful Sydney as one of the Lead Creative Directors of The Hallway, one of Australia’s leading independent agencies.

Thorugh my career I have been lucky enough to create effective, award-winning work for clients like Volkswagen, Audi, GWM Australia, Suncorp, Tourism Fiji, Burger King, Jack Daniel’s, and Adidas at leading creative agencies including LOLA MullenLowe, DDB Spain, Publicis Australia, Leo Burnett Buenos Aires, and Lowe & Partners Chile, where I started my career. My work has been recognized at all major international award shows, including D&AD, Cannes Lions, One Show, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, El Sol, LIA, FIAP, New York Festivals, Clios, Eurobest, Andys, Spikes, Art Directors Club, MADC, and BADC.

I joined The Hallway in 2019 as a senior creative and became creative director within the first year. It's here where I really had a go at the business of creativity. I was invited to join the leadership team in 2020 (does this make you ECD?, giggle), and from the very beginning, I helped shape the creative culture of the agency, which translated into becoming the second-best medium creative agency in Australia in 2024. The story of the agency is still being written and to this day, this is my proudest achievement.

Since 2021, I've been the lead creative director for GWM Australia, helping the brand break into the top 10 automotive brands in Australia with record-breaking sales and the strongest brand awareness in its history. We redeveloped the brand from scratch and delved into its heart to change its purpose to "Be the car brand that pushes the boundaries of what a car can do." This was our North Star, and in two years made Aussies more familiar with Haval, Tank, Ora, and GWM Utes than ever before.

When I’m not too busy creating advertising work, you’ll most likely find me playing video games with my friends or fulfilling the duties required of my real full-time job: Chief Dad Officer.

  • The Long Story

Act I: The South American Origin

I started my career in Chile in 2006 at Lowe Porta as an intern art director. It was an agency full of talented people who are now all over the world leading the creative industry. Here, I worked with Adidas and Mentos. Additionally, I won my first award, a Gold Sun at FIAP, with a print campaign for Mentos.

In 2007, I joined Leo Burnett Buenos Aires as a junior art director. Leo was one of the top agencies in Argentina, and I was extremely lucky to work on creating beautiful campaigns for CAR ONE and Mercedes-Benz.

    Interlude: The Big Break

In 2008, I took a sabbatical year, traveled extensively, and freelanced in great places around the world. By the end of that year, I found myself settling in beautiful Barcelona.

    Act II: The Euro Years

From 2009 until early 2015, I worked at DDB Barcelona as a mid-weight creative/art director and moved to senior within a couple of years. I spent two and a half years on the Audi account and another two and a half years on the Volkswagen account. During this time, I worked on campaigns for nearly every car model within the Volkswagen Group. I also won my first Cannes Lion and a D&AD Pencil with the print campaign "One Angle is Not Enough" for Volkswagen, which also received recognition at other renowned award festivals such as The One Show, Clio, New York Festivals, London International Awards, Festival El Sol, FIAP, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, Club de Creativos de España, Festival El Diente, Eurobest, and more.

From 2015 until mid-2017, I worked at LOLA MullenLowe as a senior creative. Still to this day, LOLA remains one of the best agencies in Spain and one of the top 10 in the world. Working at LOLA was a real challenge; the agency had a unique blend of talent and a sense of being out of control, like a car accelerating without brakes. Every day was a competition for the best idea. It truly shaped the way I like to work.

At LOLA, I also had the opportunity to participate in two IPG Global Hot Houses: one at MullenLowe Boston for the Royal Caribbean global pitch, and the second one for Campbell Ewald in Milwaukee for the Harley Davidson global pitch, both of which we won.

During my time at LOLA, I also worked as an art direction teacher at Brother Creative School, the most awarded creative school in Cannes.

Act III: The Trip Down Under

In mid-2017, I landed in Australia, and by the end of the year, I was working at Publicis Worldwide, a beautiful agency full of incredible people. Here, I worked with Nature's Own, the Queensland Department of Education, and Act for Kids. I also won my first Australian award at the BADC Awards, receiving a Silver for Nature's Own "Faces of Joint Pain" in the Film Craft category.

I joined The Hallway in 2019 as a senior creative and became creative director within the first year. It's here where I really had a go at the business of creativity. The story of the agency is still being written and to this day, this is my proudest achievement.

Since 2021, I've been the lead creative director for GWM Australia, helping the brand break into the top 10 automotive brands in Australia with record-breaking sales and the strongest brand awareness in its history. There's much more to this story, and this space feels too little to tell it all, so just reach out. I'll be glad to take you through all the details and more.
